Ethereum Consolidates Near $2.5K as On-Chain Activity Recovers

Ethereum has consolidated near $2.5K after recovering from summer lows, with the cryptocurrency now approaching a key resistance level that could determine the next phase of its price movement.

Daily Chart Analysis

The daily chart reveals a significant structural recovery from the $1.5K area. ETH reclaimed the $1.9K zone and broke above the declining 100-day and 200-day moving averages that had limited gains during the first half of the year. Following this breakout, the price surged to trade around $2.43K, establishing consolidation just below the $2.5K level.

The moving averages have turned constructive and are both rising, though they have not yet produced a bullish crossover. A sustained daily breakout above $2.5K would strengthen the bullish structure and could expose the next major resistance around $3K, with a larger supply zone sitting around $3.3K.

On the downside, the $2K area represents the first major structural support. The $1.9K zone remains critical as the base of the recent parabolic rally. A decline beneath this level would weaken the recovery structure considerably and could reopen the path toward $1.5K.

Short-Term Consolidation

The 4-hour chart shows a clear sideways consolidation in a relatively tight range at $2.5K, with price repeatedly testing the upper portion without sustaining a breakout. This suggests supply remains present at current levels.

As long as ETH holds the lower portion of the consolidation, the pattern can be interpreted as a potential continuation setup following the sharp upside move. A clean break above $2.5K could trigger another leg higher toward $3K. Conversely, losing the lower boundary would increase the probability of a deeper retracement, with the $2.25K bullish order block serving as the next notable short-term support.

On-Chain Activity Improves

Ethereum's transaction count has shown notable improvement compared with year-ago levels. Total transactions recently jumped above 2 million, marking a sharp recovery from approximately 1.5 million in the previous year. This increase coincides with ETH's bottom formation and recovery toward current levels.

Rising transaction activity alongside advancing price typically provides a healthier backdrop than a price rally occurring while network usage deteriorates. However, the increase should be interpreted cautiously, as it may also reflect profit-taking by holders amid concerns about potential further declines.
