Spot Bitcoin ETFs experienced net outflows of $462.73 million over four business days, ending a period of sustained inflows that had characterized the market since mid-August. This represents a sharp reversal for funds that had attracted over $1.9 billion during the week of August 17-21.
Outflows began Tuesday with $46.65 million in withdrawals, followed by $120.24 million on Wednesday and $282.56 million on Thursday. Friday added another $13.29 million in outflows, the same day the CPI data was released. The total net inflows in Bitcoin ETFs fell from $55.62 billion to $55.15 billion by September 11.
Bitcoin's price remained volatile throughout the period, trading as low as $76,000 before recovering to $79,800 and settling near $77,000.
Ethereum ETFs Show Resilience
Spot Ethereum ETFs continued to attract investor capital, presenting a stark contrast to their Bitcoin counterparts. The week began with modest outflows of $24.29 million on Monday, but recovered with $34.75 million in inflows Wednesday. Thursday saw $29.76 million in withdrawals.
Friday proved to be a turning point, with Ethereum ETFs recording their highest daily inflows in two weeks at $216.41 million. This surge coincided with Ethereum reaching an eight-month high of $2,670 following the CPI announcement, though the price subsequently pulled back to just above $2,500.
Ethereum ETFs have now extended their winning streak to four consecutive weeks. Over the previous ten weeks, only one week registered outflows, totaling just $2.26 million. Total net inflows for Ethereum ETFs recovered from under $10.89 billion to $13.39 billion during this period.
