Goldman Sachs, an institution overseeing more than $4.0 trillion in total assets under management (AUM), has returned as the largest institutional holder of XRP exchange-traded funds (ETFs). The bank reported $86.5 million across five XRP funds in its Q2 2026 filing, following a previous period where it reported no XRP ETF holdings after exiting a prior $153 million position.
The firm distributed its $86.5 million investment across multiple products rather than a single fund:
- Bitwise XRP ETF: $25.76 million
- Franklin XRP Trust: $25.41 million
- Canary XRP ETF: $19.49 million
- 21Shares XRP ETF: $8.21 million
- Grayscale XRP Trust: $7.66 million
When XRP ETFs initially launched, Goldman Sachs served as an authorized participant to help create and manage ETF shares, a function that may have accounted for fluctuations in its reported holdings between filings.
Market Activity and Price Action
Goldman's return coincides with a more than 40% climb in the price of XRP over the week, moving from near $1 to approximately $1.37. Data from SoSoValue indicated that U.S. spot XRP ETFs recorded $13.24 million in net inflows on August 20.
The digital asset's recent market movement has also been accompanied by a new partnership involving Ripple, Clearpool, and Cicada Credit to develop an institutional lending platform on the XRP Ledger, aiming at the private credit market. Additionally, trading volume increased by 116.85% to surpass $10.2 billion, while the relative strength index (RSI) hovered near 65.
Market observers note specific technical levels for the asset going forward, identifying $1.26 as a threshold needed to maintain momentum, with potential resistance near $1.42 and support levels watched around $1.22 and $1.08.
