Hunter Biden has detailed the supply distribution and operational mechanisms for his upcoming LAPTOP memecoin, which is scheduled to launch on the Base Layer 2 network. The token features a total supply of 1 billion tokens, managed by the Phoenix Veritas Foundation.
At the token generation event, 10% of the total supply will be made available through a claim portal, while an additional 10% is reserved for a future community airdrop distributed at the foundation's discretion. The initial 10% allocation is split between subscribers to Hunter Biden's Substack, who receive 8%, and individuals who sustained losses from Donald Trump’s TRUMP memecoin, who are allocated 2%.
Thirty percent of the total supply is tied to 30 public predictions involving real-world events, many of which are linked to Polymarket prediction markets. Specific scenarios include Trump facing impeachment during his presidential term and Democrats securing control of the U.S. House or Senate in 2026. For each event, if the outcome occurs, the assigned tokens will be permanently burned. If the outcome does not happen, the tokens will be allocated to charity. An additional 50 million tokens are designated for charity regardless of the outcome of these 30 events.
According to the project's official disclosures, the remaining token supply is distributed as follows:
- Founding Team: 30% is reserved for founders, including Biden, subject to a six-month lockup followed by a gradual release over two years.
- Liquidity: 10% of the supply is allocated for market liquidity.
- Treasury: 5% is given to the Phoenix Veritas Foundation treasury to fund ongoing operations.
Biden advised prospective holders not to rely on him or others to drive up the token's value, describing LAPTOP as a tool to convey a message rather than a standard asset. The memecoin's branding references the laptop controversy from the 2020 U.S. presidential election. Biden stated he is utilizing the project to transform an item used by political opponents into a symbol of resilience, redemption, and recovery.
