Lighter [LIT] gained 13% over the past 24 hours, marking its third consecutive day of gains and reaching a new local high of $4.67. The perpetual decentralized exchange token saw increased trading volume following its integration into Robinhood Wallet.
Performance Outpacing Major Competitors
Over the past five months, Lighter has significantly outperformed both Hyperliquid [HYPE] and Ethereum [ETH]. At the time of reporting, LIT was up 465% compared to HYPE's 136% gain and ETH's 24% return.
The correlation coefficient between Lighter and Hyperliquid stands at 0.85, reflecting growing adoption of decentralized exchange platforms. Despite Lighter's stronger gains, Hyperliquid maintains a substantially larger market capitalization of $21.92 billion compared to Lighter's approximately $1.09 billion.
Network Activity and Fee Generation
The Robinhood Wallet integration has driven increased network activity on Lighter. Protocol fees rose from $124,000 to $195,000 over a 24-hour period, according to DefiLlama data. These protocol fees are used to buy back LIT tokens, reducing the available supply.
Transfer count data from Etherscan showed network activity tripling over a six-day period, rising from 1,914 transfers on August 29 to 6,196 transfers shortly thereafter.
Open Interest and Market Dynamics
Open Interest in Lighter has increased from $138 million since the start of September to approximately $180 million, indicating sustained buying interest. Short liquidations amplified recent gains, supported by a negative Funding Rate during the token's breakout period.
The perpetual DEX token has remained above the Supertrend on daily charts since April 10, recently trading within a sideways channel between $3.20 and $3.85.
