A 59-year-old Massachusetts woman has been sentenced to federal prison for stealing $536,000 from bank accounts using counterfeit identification documents, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Massachusetts.
Rosemary Parks of Hopkinton was sentenced on September 30 to 26 months in prison, followed by two years of supervised release. She was also ordered to pay $4,000 in restitution. Parks previously pleaded guilty in May to charges of bank fraud and aggravated identity theft after being arrested in January 2026.
According to federal authorities, Parks impersonated at least eight bank customers across Massachusetts and Rhode Island between August and October 2024. During the scheme, she used fake driver's licenses bearing the victims' personal information alongside her own photograph. She then handed bank tellers withdrawal slips displaying the victims' names and account numbers, successfully obtaining the funds primarily through cashier's checks alongside one cash withdrawal.
The prosecution is connected to a broader financial fraud investigation. In July 2025, six men were charged in a related multi-million-dollar scheme targeting banks across Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Rhode Island. Among them, Phalentz Vernot, Victor Kolawole, and Keith Wainaina have pleaded guilty and are awaiting sentencing.
Additionally, co-defendant William Shaw entered a guilty plea on September 30 in a related scheme and is scheduled to be sentenced on January 6, 2027.
