MicroStrategy has continued its Bitcoin accumulation campaign, purchasing $22 million worth of BTC over the past seven days. The acquisition marks the fourth consecutive week of buying by the corporate treasury firm.
According to the company, it acquired 250 Bitcoin at an average purchase price of $86,194 per BTC, expanding its total holdings to 848,250 BTC. Over the three weeks prior to this latest purchase, MicroStrategy added 2,949 Bitcoin while spending approximately $248 million.
The ongoing buying spree represents a continuation of the firm's Bitcoin strategy, though the company conducted Bitcoin sales during the summer under its newly introduced BTC monetization program. That program was designed to strengthen cash reserves and support dividend payments.
In addition to its Bitcoin purchases, MicroStrategy chairman Michael Saylor announced the firm repurchased $192 million worth of STRC, its perpetual preferred stock that carries a 12.00% annual dividend yield and trades near its $100 par value.
As the first public company to adopt Bitcoin as its sole treasury reserve asset, MicroStrategy remains the world's largest corporate Bitcoin holder. Saylor clarified that his previous public statements encouraging investors to "never sell" Bitcoin referred to personal holdings rather than the company's capital management approach. "When I say 'Never Sell Your Bitcoin,' I speak as one saver to another," Saylor said, adding that MicroStrategy has disclosed since 2020 that it may buy or sell BTC to manage capital.
