MicroStrategy purchased 950 BTC for $75.7 million during the week ending September 20, paying an average price of $79,670 per coin inclusive of fees, according to an 8-K filing.
The purchase brings the company's total Bitcoin holdings to 846,000 coins, acquired for a cumulative $63.80 billion at an average cost basis of $75,416 per coin. This positions the company just 1,363 coins below its record holdings of 847,363 BTC, which MicroStrategy reached on June 22.
The company has recovered 5,553 BTC since its low point of 840,447 coins on August 10. At the current weekly purchase pace, MicroStrategy indicated it could surpass its June record within two weeks.
Beyond Bitcoin acquisitions, MicroStrategy spent $174.0 million repurchasing 1,771,238 of its STRC preferred shares during the same week, its largest such repurchase since early September. The company did not repurchase any STRF, STRK, STRD, or MSTR stock.
Both the Bitcoin purchase and share repurchase were funded from USD Cash, a pool established last month for these purposes and general corporate needs. The pool declined to $1.05 billion from $1.30 billion, a draw of $249.7 million matching the combined outlays.
MicroStrategy did not sell shares under its at-the-market offering program during the period. The company previously raised $333.7 million through this program in a single week in August. Approximately $820 million remains available under its June capital framework permitting up to $1.25 billion in Bitcoin sales.
