Nasdaq-listed DeFi Development Corp. has added approximately 22,070 SOL and SOL equivalents to its treasury, valued at about $2.43 million at the time of acquisition. The purchase brings the company's total Solana holdings to 2,586,282 SOL and SOL equivalents.
The latest acquisition represents a 12% increase in the company's Solana treasury since its second-quarter earnings announcement on August 12. The purchase follows an earlier acquisition of 19,000 SOL in August.
According to CEO Joseph Onorati, the company remains committed to its strategy of accumulating SOL tokens despite recent market volatility. The firm also operates validator nodes and generates staking rewards as part of its treasury strategy.
Financing and Market Performance
DeFi Development has established a $300 million at-the-market preferred share program for CHAD to support further acquisitions. The financing structure allows the company to raise capital through preferred share offerings without issuing additional common shares.
CHAD preferred shares reached record trading highs during the week ending October 9, rising to near $10 per share despite broader cryptocurrency market weakness. The preferred stock currently offers a 13% annual dividend rate, paid daily on business days as declared.
However, DeFi Development's common shares fell 3.1% to $4.37 on Monday, despite the expanding Solana treasury and record highs in CHAD preferred stock.
Blockchain Development Context
CEO Onorati highlighted growth in tokenized equity trading and stablecoin adoption on the Solana blockchain as supporting factors for the company's strategy. Securitize launched tokenized stock trading on Solana, enabling qualified investors to access blockchain-based financial instruments. Additionally, Samsung announced stablecoin functionality for 82 million Galaxy devices in the United States.
