NEAR Protocol has reclaimed $2.00 and extended its recovery to around $2.26 after weeks of consolidation. The rally follows a breakout above a descending trendline that had restricted price action for months, with the token now testing initial resistance levels.
The price movement is backed by a significant surge in derivatives activity. According to market data, NEAR futures volume reached $964.57 million over 24 hours, representing a 150.65% increase, while open interest rose to $571.79 million, up 33.06%. The rise in both metrics indicates fresh positions are being established alongside the price advance.
NEAR's ecosystem developments provide fundamental support for the rally. The protocol's focus on NEAR Intents and chain abstraction, which allows users to execute transactions across different blockchain networks through an intent-based system, expands NEAR's utility beyond its native chain. This positions the network within the cross-chain liquidity and AI infrastructure narratives.
Technical Levels Under Watch
The immediate technical hurdle stands at $2.30. A sustained daily close above this level would strengthen the breakout and bring $2.50–$2.70 into view. Clearing that region would position the major resistance zone between $3.20 and $3.40 as the primary upside target.
On the downside, support is defined by $2.10–$2.20. Holding this breakout region would preserve the current recovery, while a decisive break below $2.10 would increase the probability of a retest toward $1.80–$1.90.
With derivatives volume approaching $1 billion and open interest above $570 million, NEAR has entered a phase of elevated leverage and participation. The elevated open interest also increases liquidation risk; a failed breakout below key support could produce a sharper reversal than typical spot-market pullbacks.
