NYSE Group and Blockchain.com have formalized a strategic partnership through a memorandum of understanding aimed at expanding access to tokenized American equities and exchange-traded funds on an international scale.
Under the arrangement, qualified Blockchain.com customers would gain access to these digital assets via an upcoming NYSE electronic trading venue. The proposed infrastructure would support continuous trading operations beyond traditional market hours, with settlement processing occurring directly on blockchain networks.
NYSE previously indicated the system will accommodate partial share purchases and funding via stablecoin assets. The partnership also includes a separate arrangement with Securitize, which is anticipated to function as the digital transfer agent and broker-dealer participant within the platform.
Data Sharing Initiative
The agreement encompasses a mutual data distribution component. ICE Data Services, an affiliate of Intercontinental Exchange and NYSE's corporate parent, intends to offer Blockchain.com's cryptocurrency market intelligence to its established client network. Simultaneously, Blockchain.com will incorporate select ICE and NYSE market information into its platform, delivering live equity market data alongside digital currency portfolios.
Existing Operations
Blockchain.com currently provides more than 200 tokenized American equities and ETFs to customers across 30 European Economic Area nations through a partnership with Ondo Finance. The platform has also been expanding its regulated operations, becoming a participant in Nigeria's Securities and Exchange Commission Accelerated Regulatory Incubation Programme.
Blockchain.com clarifies that its tokenized products mirror the financial performance of underlying equities and ETFs without conveying direct shareholder rights. Regulated American custodians maintain custody of the traditional assets supporting these tokenized instruments.
Path Forward
The partnership requires regulatory authorization before implementation. No specific timeline has been announced regarding when Blockchain.com customers might access the proposed NYSE tokenized securities marketplace.
