Pi Network has announced a new partnership with Open Standard, the company powering the Open USD (OUSD) stablecoin. The collaboration was revealed on X shortly after OUSD officially went live on September 30.
OUSD is backed by major industry participants, including Visa, Mastercard, Stripe, and Coinbase. The stablecoin is natively available on blockchains such as Ethereum, Solana, Base, and Tempo, and has launched on exchanges including Coinbase, Kraken, and Uniswap. Open Standard states that its network encompasses more than 200 financial institutions, fintechs, banks, and global businesses, with founding partners and Shopify committing over $1 billion in near-term launch liquidity. The stablecoin is issued by Stripe's Bridge, with reserves held at BlackRock, Lead Bank, and BNY Mellon.
According to Open Standard's economic model, participating partners can earn rewards based on the OUSD supply and activity generated on their platforms, alongside potential eligibility to earn equity in Open Standard.
While Pi Network has not yet explained the specifics of how a reward program for its users, known as Pioneers, would function, who would qualify, or when it might launch, the collaboration aims to explore ways to bring OUSD-created rewards and broader utility to the Pi ecosystem. Pi Network has also not confirmed that OUSD will receive native support on its blockchain.
