Pump.fun appears positioned to break Hyperliquid's 15-month streak of monthly revenue leadership. As of the latest data, Pump.fun reported $55.9 million in revenue compared to Hyperliquid's $49.6 million, marking what would be Pump.fun's first monthly victory over the platform since April 2025.
Both platforms have experienced considerable volatility over the past year. Pump.fun has peaked near $150 million monthly, while Hyperliquid has maintained a more consistent revenue trajectory during the period.
Token Performance Divergence
The revenue shift reflects recent token performance differences. During August, PUMP gained approximately 105%, while HYPE advanced roughly 49%. Pump.fun's token remained relatively flat for the first week of the month before surging around the 19th, whereas HYPE demonstrated steadier gains throughout August.
Long-Term Development Outlook
Despite the current revenue advantage, Hyperliquid has signaled potential structural advantages ahead. The platform's planned HIP-4 upgrade aims to introduce permissionless prediction markets, enabling external builders to launch markets on sports, cryptocurrency, macroeconomic events, and politics, contingent on validator approval and 500,000 HYPE being locked.
This approach mirrors the HIP-3 perpetuals upgrade model. If successful, HIP-4 could position Hyperliquid as underlying infrastructure for numerous third-party markets rather than requiring the platform to develop markets independently.
