Brad Garlinghouse, CEO of Ripple Labs, outlined factors he believes could drive XRP toward a $10 trillion market capitalization over the next 10-15 years, according to comments shared in a recent podcast.
XRP's current market capitalization stands at $88.89 billion. The asset has grown substantially from $232 million in January 2017 to $15 billion by 2019, $18 billion in 2020, and $34 billion by 2024. Following legal victories and recent market movements, XRP briefly ranked among the top three cryptocurrencies by market value at the start of 2025.
Catalysts for Growth
Garlinghouse identified three primary drivers for potential expansion:
- Regulatory clarity: The executive highlighted the CLARITY Act as a significant development that could provide institutional investors with the regulatory certainty needed to participate in cryptocurrency markets.
- Cross-border payment adoption: Garlinghouse emphasized XRP's established role as a fast, low-cost settlement tool for international transfers. Banks and financial institutions already use Ripple's blockchain infrastructure to reduce transfer fees and improve settlement speed.
- Institutional participation: Supportive regulatory environments are expected to encourage broader institutional engagement with digital assets, including XRP.
Garlinghouse attributed part of XRP's recent momentum to policy shifts, noting that supportive regulatory approaches have helped resolve previous legal challenges and may accelerate broader market adoption.
