Ripple announced a joint venture with Securitize to deploy a smart contract allowing holders of BlackRock's BUIDL and VanEck's VBILL tokenized funds to exchange their shares for Ripple's native stablecoin, RLUSD. The integration marks the first official collaboration between Ripple's stablecoin and Securitize's tokenization platform.
The new smart contract enables instant 24/7 exchanges of BUIDL and VBILL shares for RLUSD, creating an additional off-ramp for the two tokenized short-term treasury funds. Both BlackRock and VanEck's products represent their first tokenized offerings on public blockchains.
"RLUSD is for institutional use, offering regulatory clarity, stability, and real utility," said Ripple's Senior Vice President of Stablecoins Jack McDonald. "As adoption grows, partnerships with trusted platforms like Securitize are key to unlocking new liquidity and enterprise-grade use cases."
The partnership enables investors to gain continuous exposure to RLUSD while maintaining exposure to on-chain yield and DeFi strategies. Securitize plans to integrate with the XRP Ledger to expand access across its broader ecosystem, with both parties indicating plans for future collaborations.
Whale Accumulation Continues
Large XRP holders accelerated purchases following the announcement. According to analyst Ali Martinez, whales accumulated more than 470 million XRP tokens valued at approximately $724 million over a five-day period. This activity follows a previous accumulation spree in which whales purchased over 1.5 billion tokens within 96 hours.
XRP experienced significant price volatility during this period, reaching $1.65 before declining below $1.50, then recovering to around $1.55 to $1.56 on subsequent days.
