Robinhood Crypto announced plans to explore a potential collaboration with T. Rowe Price Digital Assets to bring tokenized exposure to an actively managed exchange-traded fund to Robinhood Chain. The initiative would create what the firm described as a first-of-its-kind Stock Token.
The proposal was revealed in an October 9 post on X. According to Robinhood Crypto, the collaboration would combine the firm's blockchain infrastructure with T. Rowe Price's actively managed ETF offering. T. Rowe Price manages $1.9 trillion in assets under management.
Any successful outcome remains subject to legal due diligence, issuer board approval, final terms, and regulatory clearances in relevant jurisdictions.
Existing Stock Token Offerings
Robinhood already offers more than 190 Stock Tokens on its Robinhood Chain layer-2 network, including tokens linked to stocks and ETFs such as NVIDIA, Google, Apple, and Invesco QQQ. These tokenized securities provide economic exposure to underlying U.S. stocks and ETFs while trading continuously through supported wallets and venues.
The tokens are backed one-for-one by securities held with a custodian and feature on-chain price feeds. Holders do not receive voting rights or direct legal ownership of underlying securities. Dividends are reinvested through a multiplier mechanism rather than distributed as cash.
Distinction of Proposed Product
The proposed T. Rowe Price collaboration would differ from existing Robinhood offerings by tracking an actively managed ETF rather than individual stocks or passive index funds. In an actively managed ETF, portfolio composition, weightings, and trades change according to the asset manager's strategic decisions, distinguishing it from static, index-based approaches.
