US spot Bitcoin ETFs saw $643 million in net outflows on October 30, while spot Ethereum ETFs lost $156 million on the same day. The single-session pullback reversed momentum from four consecutive days of inflows that had brought in roughly $424 million to $441 million between October 26 and October 29.
Leading redemptions. BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) accounted for approximately $234 million of the Bitcoin outflows, while Fidelity's Wise Origin Bitcoin Fund (FBTC) contributed around $201 million. The remainder was distributed across other spot Bitcoin products. On the Ethereum side, BlackRock's iShares Ethereum Trust (ETHA) recorded approximately $76.6 million of the $156 million total outflow.
Scale context. Total net assets in US spot Bitcoin ETFs have ranged between $98 billion and $104 billion, with cumulative net inflows since the products launched in January 2024 standing at approximately $57 billion. Ethereum ETF products operate at a smaller scale, holding approximately $13 billion to $14 billion in total assets with cumulative inflows around $12 billion. The $156 million Ethereum outflow represents a proportionally larger withdrawal relative to that product category's size.
Potential triggers. The outflows occurred one day after Binance reported unauthorized withdrawals of approximately $6.3 billion on October 29. Exchange security incidents can create broader market concern, even among investors who do not directly use the affected platform. Other factors such as profit-taking after the recent inflow streak or routine risk management heading into month-end may also have contributed to the redemptions.
