Strategy reported repurchasing $208.2 million of its STRC preferred shares and spending $65.5 million to buy 811 Bitcoin at an average price of $80,846, based on a Monday 8‑K filing with the SEC.
The company sold approximately 1.18 million MSTR shares, generating net proceeds of $164 million. Of that amount, $65.5 million funded the Bitcoin purchase and the remaining $98.5 million was added to its USD cash balance. As of the filing date, Strategy held $132.7 million in cash and $4.79 billion in a separate U.S. dollar reserve.
Between October 1 and October 25, Strategy bought back about $664 million of STRC shares, compared with roughly $72 million spent on Bitcoin acquisitions during the same period.
STRC preferred stock traded at $99.22 in pre‑market activity, slightly below its $100 target price. The company’s policy limits the issuance of new STRC shares below $100, constraining that source of funding while the stock trades below the target.
In related news, Japan’s Metaplanet disclosed a share buyback of 96.45 million shares for about 25.27 billion yen ($160 million) between October 14 and Saturday, representing roughly 7.1 % of its issued shares.
