The tokenized stock market recorded $29.5 billion in on-chain transfers during a 30-day period, representing an increase of more than 415%. The surge reflects both expanded participation and accelerating transaction volume across decentralized platforms.
Monthly active addresses rose more than 209% to approximately 1.3 million, while the holder count increased 167% to 2.36 million. The distributed on-chain value reached $2.54 billion, up 637% year-over-year but only 1.45% higher during the measured month, indicating that activity is growing faster than outstanding value. This pattern suggests heavier circulation and broader wallet adoption rather than proportional increases in total assets.
Market Concentration and Platform Dominance
Three major platforms control the majority of tokenized stock value. Ondo led with $842.8 million in distributed value, followed by Kraken's xStocks at $609.3 million and Binance's bStocks at $599.9 million. Combined, these three platforms held roughly 81% of the market's $2.54 billion.
Individual tokenized assets show varying valuations. Securitize Corp. represented approximately $163 million, while Strategy PP Variable xStock held $136 million. Ondo's tokenized Circle Internet Group shares reached $109 million.
Expansion Into DeFi and Extended Trading
Major crypto platforms have begun integrating tokenized stocks into decentralized finance applications. Coinbase added tokenized U.S. stocks to Base on August 24 for eligible users outside the United States, initially covering Apple, Nvidia, Meta, and Alphabet. Each token represents a real share held through a regulated custody structure.
Bitwise launched Automated Token Portfolios built from Coinbase-issued assets, enabling rules-based rebalancing while users retain custody. Other platforms are expanding tokenized equity use beyond spot trading. Bybit added tokenized shares as collateral for margin borrowing in July, while Robinhood-backed Arcus introduced more than 95 stock tokens and perpetual markets.
Several offerings support extended trading outside normal U.S. exchange hours, allowing users to respond to events sooner. However, thinner off-hours liquidity can widen spreads and affect price tracking until regular markets reopen.
Structural Variations and Risk Considerations
Tokenized stock products operate under different structures. Some provide direct claims on custodied shares, while others deliver synthetic price exposure or cash redemption. Trading hours, dividend handling, voting rights, redemption terms, and investor protections vary by issuer and jurisdiction.
DeFi integration introduces additional risks including smart-contract vulnerabilities, oracle dependencies, liquidity constraints, and liquidation mechanisms. Market concentration creates further dependency, with three platforms holding most distributed value. Investors should evaluate issuer backing, custody arrangements, transfer restrictions, and redemption processes before participating.
