US President Donald Trump announced plans to create an "AI Force" and appoint an artificial intelligence czar, according to a post on Truth Social on Saturday.
Trump compared the initiative to the Space Force, which he created during his first term. "For this purpose, I am forming the AI Force, much like I did Space Force, which has been a tremendous SUCCESS, in my First Term," Trump wrote. "To that end, I will be announcing, in the near future, the AI 'Czar' — Only High I.Q. individuals need apply!"
The president stated that the new project would manage the fast-growing artificial intelligence sector without adding regulations that could slow innovation. However, Trump did not specify whether the AI Force would be a military command, a civilian agency, or a department. White House officials did not respond to requests seeking clarification on the structure.
Trump offered no further details or timeline for implementing the plan. His announcement comes amid ongoing discussions about artificial intelligence's potential risks and the need to manage its rapid development.
The proposal follows recent initiatives in the AI industry focused on pacing development. Anthropic announced it had selected Accenture as its first embedded evaluator to help moderate the pace of AI advancement, moving forward with a proposal outlined by Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei.
