Bitcoin Rallies Toward $70,000
Bitcoin traded within a range of $60,000 to $64,000 for most of the week, sparking hopes of a potential market bottom. During this period, the Bitcoin Supply Sell-Side Exhaustion Constant fell to a historical low level on the chart, implying low volatility and a fall in profitability. This metric suggested that sellers may have been exhausted.
That movement shifted in the latter hours of August 19, when the cryptocurrency recorded a significant hike to trade close to $70,000. While the short-term market appeared bullish, other on-chain factors remain crucial in determining whether demand and confidence can sustain the run.
Impact of Profit and Loss Realization
Growing profit and loss realization has affected the market, as reflected by an uptick in Bitcoin’s Adjusted Sell-Side Risk Ratio (aSSRR). The metric recently reached 20.23%, implying that the magnitude of this realization is increasing relative to the present market size.
This upward trend began on 14 August around the previous week's market bottom, indicating that profit-taking increased as prices rallied. Additionally, the Net Realized Profit/Loss indicator, using a 7-day Short-Term Moving Average (SMA), highlighted a clear hike driven predominantly by profit realization. If buyers fail to absorb this growing profit-taking, it could create resistance against further upward movement, though momentum remained bullish at the time of writing.
Further supporting short-term conviction, the Bitcoin Regime Score crossed 60% within a recent 24-hour window, suggesting strong belief that the price will maintain its trajectory.
Spot Market Flows
Spot market data indicates that inflows have dominated outflows over the last 30 days, pointing to increased profit-taking. Following Bitcoin's recent rally, the 24-hour netflow stood at approximately $233 million, while the 30-day netflow reached $556 million, largely driven by massive inflows over a seven-day period.
Market analysts note that until clear demand materializes and the spot market maintains a consistent negative netflow, the probability of a price pullback remains elevated.
