XRP Consolidates Below Resistance After August Rally

Ripple's XRP has entered a consolidation phase following its sharp rally in August, with the token struggling to maintain gains above critical overhead resistance. The asset broke above its previous descending structure from a support zone near $0.94-$0.97 and initially rallied to roughly $1.70, but has since pulled back significantly.

XRP is currently trading around $1.42, positioned just below a major resistance zone at $1.45-$1.54. The token continues to hold above its 200-day moving average near $1.27, which has flattened after a prolonged downtrend. This support level is structurally important for the ongoing recovery.

Daily Timeframe Analysis

On the daily chart, XRP faces two critical scenarios. If the token maintains support above $1.27, recent weakness can be viewed as consolidation following an impulsive move higher. A daily close above the $1.45-$1.54 resistance zone would strengthen the bullish case and potentially bring the $1.70 high back into focus.

Conversely, a breakdown below $1.27 would weaken the current structure and increase the probability of a deeper retracement toward the lower moving average around $1.15.

Four-Hour Technicals

The 4-hour chart shows XRP contained within a descending channel since the initial surge. The asset has repeatedly failed to break through the channel's upper boundary, which is now converging with the $1.45-$1.54 resistance zone.

XRP recently rebounded from around $1.34 and now trades near $1.42, placing it directly beneath the descending resistance. A breakout above this trendline followed by a successful reclaim of $1.45 could signal the end of the corrective structure, with $1.50-$1.54 becoming the next objective. Another rejection would preserve the descending structure and could send XRP back toward $1.34-$1.38, with the channel's lower boundary approaching the $1.27-$1.30 support region.

XRP remains caught between improving support below and persistent resistance overhead. Without a breakout from the descending channel, the short-term outlook favors continued consolidation rather than an immediate bullish continuation.
