XRP price reached a historic milestone in the third quarter of 2026, posting gains across all three months for the first time on record. July closed up 2%, August gained 30%, and September rose 7.95%, combining for a quarterly advance above 43%.
This performance distinguishes itself from prior years, when Q3 finished positive overall but at least one individual month still closed in the red. According to CryptoRank data, 2026 marked the first time all three months remained positive simultaneously.
What Drove the Q3 Rally
Institutional demand through U.S. spot XRP exchange-traded funds contributed to the advance, alongside a short squeeze in September and sustained exchange outflows. Exchange balances declined from approximately 12.9 billion XRP in April to around 11 billion, indicating investors moving assets off trading platforms.
XRP currently trades near $1.50 with a market capitalization around $95 billion. The weekly chart recently broke above a descending trendline that had acted as resistance since July 2025.
Q4 Outlook and Historical Patterns
The path forward presents mixed signals. October has historically been XRP's weakest month, averaging a negative return of 4.71% with red closes in both 2024 and 2025. However, the broader fourth quarter shows more favorable precedent, averaging a 13.3% gain driven by historically strong November and December performances.
Key catalysts monitoring into the final quarter include Ripple's Swell conference in late October, institutional developments, continued ETF inflows, and Federal Reserve policy decisions. Analysts expect some volatility and sideways trading ranges before any sustained directional move.
A sustained weekly close above $1.70 would strengthen the technical case for gains extending into November and December. Conversely, failure to maintain current levels could invite a pullback toward the $1.30 to $1.40 support zone.
