US spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds recorded $148.7 million in net outflows on September 30, ending a nine-day inflow streak and marking their first daily withdrawal in more than two weeks, according to data from Farside Investors.
Fidelity's FBTC led the reversal with $125.6 million in outflows, followed by Bitwise's BITB at $13.6 million and BlackRock's IBIT at $9.5 million. The remaining nine listed funds recorded no net flows.
The nine-day streak preceding the outflow had attracted approximately $3.08 billion in cumulative inflows, bringing 2026 year-to-date net inflows to roughly $930 million after the complex spent much of the year in negative territory.
Recovery Approaches Previous Peak
Despite the September 30 setback, the month remained strongly positive overall. Bitcoin ETFs attracted about $2.65 billion during September, the second-strongest monthly flow of the year behind August's $3.52 billion.
Cumulative lifetime flows have recovered to approximately $57.7 billion by late September, according to Bloomberg Intelligence data. This represents substantial recovery from a July 13 low of $50.9 billion, when redemptions had erased $12 billion from the products' prior peak of $62.8 billion reached on October 10, 2025.
The funds now stand roughly $5 billion short of returning to their previous high-water mark.
Focus on Near-Term Flow Patterns
Bloomberg ETF analyst Eric Balchunas noted that the rebound was significant given the pressure Bitcoin ETFs had faced over the previous 11 months, particularly amid higher yields and persistent negative sentiment. The concentration of September 30 outflows in Fidelity's fund, with most other major products registering no movement, suggests the single-day reversal may represent a pause rather than a trend reversal.
Broader redemptions across multiple large issuers in coming sessions would signal whether the recovery has stalled. Continued inflows would characterize Tuesday's outflow as a minor interruption following more than $3 billion of recent buying activity.
Bitcoin traded near $83,800 in early October trading, with ETF demand serving as a key indicator of institutional buyer appetite at current price levels.
