Bitcoin pushed through $86,500 on Tuesday, climbing approximately 14% over the week as the total cryptocurrency market capitalization surpassed $3 trillion. Spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded $999 million in inflows Monday, marking their strongest day since October 2025, while 97 of the top 100 cryptocurrencies posted gains over the seven-day period.
Ethereum reached $2,750, Solana climbed to $120, and several altcoins including Hype and Zcash reached new all-time highs. CryptoPunks, the NFT collection, saw its floor price rise past $90,000.
Oil prices declined significantly, with Brent crude briefly slipping below $98 per barrel and West Texas Intermediate dropping under $93, reaching levels not seen since September 8. The decline followed reports that Iran offered to reopen the Strait of Hormuz within days if Washington eases pressure.
Bitcoin ETFs saw $715 million in net inflows Tuesday, while Ethereum ETFs attracted $162 million and Solana ETFs received $29 million. Tuesday morning, Bitcoin traded at $85,300, down 0.3% from the previous session, with Ethereum at $2,720 and Solana at $117.
The CME announced it will launch Bitcoin Cash and Uniswap futures contracts on October 19, pending regulatory review, in both standard and Micro sizes. Bitcoin Cash surged 26% and Uniswap rose 12% following the announcement.
The SEC sent a cryptocurrency custody proposal to the Office of Management and Budget that would allow broker-dealers and investment companies to hold non-security cryptocurrencies without special registration.
