Blockchain.com and the New York Stock Exchange have signed a memorandum of understanding to explore bringing tokenized U.S.-listed stocks and ETFs to crypto-native trading platforms. The agreement covers product development and market-data sharing between the two companies.
Under the proposed arrangement, Blockchain.com would become a distribution partner for NYSE's planned digital alternative trading system. The venue is designed to enable features including 24/7 trading access, fractional ownership, stablecoin funding, and onchain settlement—capabilities more familiar to cryptocurrency traders than traditional brokerage customers.
The data partnership would flow in both directions. NYSE parent ICE could distribute Blockchain.com crypto-market data, while Blockchain.com would integrate ICE and NYSE equity data into its products.
Regulatory and Jurisdictional Requirements Remain
The agreement does not represent a live trading launch. Tokenized NYSE securities are not currently available for 24-hour unrestricted trading. The service depends on NYSE successfully launching its digital ATS and obtaining required regulatory approvals.
Tokenizing securities does not remove applicable securities laws simply because ownership is represented onchain. The companies indicated there will be jurisdictional restrictions on access.
Broader Market Trends
The partnership aligns two developments in financial markets. Crypto exchanges have moved aggressively into tokenized equities over the past year, while traditional market operators have begun experimenting with blockchain-based settlement systems.
If the project advances through regulatory approval, it could represent the stock market adopting cryptocurrency-style settlement infrastructure rather than crypto platforms imitating traditional equity markets.
