Cardano (ADA) is trading at $0.21 on September 5, up 0.7% for the day. The price movement coincides with increased activity on the network's decentralized finance platforms.
Network Activity Accelerates
Data from DeFiLlama shows that decentralized exchange volumes on Cardano have increased threefold, rising from $2.01 million to $7.28 million. The surge reflects broader growth in network engagement, with total value locked (TVL) climbing from 268.47 million ADA on August 28 to 299.81 million ADA—a gain of 31.34 million ADA in less than two weeks.
The rising TVL follows an announcement that DeFi platform RealFi will launch on Cardano on October 1. However, the market cap of stablecoins available on the network has declined from $67.95 million to $63.97 million.
Technical Outlook
ADA has been trading within a rising parallel channel since June. The cryptocurrency is attempting to break above the channel's resistance level at $0.22. Technical indicators show positive momentum: the MACD line is above its signal line, and the Awesome Oscillator bars are green and increasing in length, suggesting bullish momentum could extend gains toward the $0.25 level.
If the uptrend reverses, support lies at the channel's midline around $0.17.
Macro Factors
Traders are monitoring the Federal Reserve's next policy decision scheduled for September 16. Market data indicates that 50% of traders expect a 25 basis point rate increase at that meeting. According to commentary from BlackRock's portfolio advisor, such a hike may have limited impact on risk assets like cryptocurrencies.
