Circle’s USDC Treasury minted another 250 million USDC on Solana between October 27 and 28, 2026, according to on-chain tracker Whale Alert, which flagged the issuance shortly after it occurred.
The transaction was the fifth mint of exactly 250 million USDC in October. Earlier mints of the same size took place on October 2, 6, 16, and 23. All five occurred on Solana, with none on any other chain.
Verified on-chain activity
Whale Alert confirmed the mints as legitimate. Each transaction traced back to the official USDC Treasury contract on Solana, which block explorer Solscan verified. USDC held its $1 peg throughout the period.
What a mint does — and does not — signal
When Circle mints USDC, it creates new tokens on a blockchain. The stablecoin is backed by reserves held at traditional financial institutions, which anchors its dollar value.
A mint is not automatically equivalent to new money entering the market. Freshly minted tokens can remain in reserve at the treasury rather than entering circulation immediately.
Solana’s repeated selection
The concentration of October’s issuance on Solana stands out. All five mints chose the same chain, pointing to where Circle expects demand for dollar liquidity to appear.
The minting volume reflects ongoing liquidity dynamics within decentralized finance on Solana. Large USDC issuances have historically correlated with increased DeFi activity and trading volume.
USDC’s broader position
USDC is the second-largest stablecoin by market capitalization. Rather than one enormous issuance, Circle spread supply across five identical tranches over roughly four weeks, all on Solana.
What it could mean for Solana DeFi
For Solana’s DeFi users, the minting activity might indicate a bolstering of liquidity available to protocols on the network. More available USDC could lead to higher trading volume and possibly increased yields for those using DeFi applications there.
Because minted tokens may remain in reserve, the real signal will come from whether this USDC actually moves out of the treasury and into circulation. USDC maintained its $1 target through all five October mints.
