Citi raised its twelve-month Bitcoin forecast to $113,000 from a previous $82,000 target, citing stronger activity, supportive macroeconomic conditions, and renewed ETF inflows. The bank also forecast approximately $5 billion in crypto inflows over the following year, a timeframe extending to roughly autumn 2027.
From Bitcoin's October 7 reference price of $83,085, the $113,000 target represents a 36% gain, equivalent to approximately 2.6% compounded monthly over twelve months. The target sits about 10.5% below Bitcoin's prior record of $126,198.07, placing it within a previously traded price range.
Valuation and Volatility Context
At the proposed price level with a circulating supply of 20.09 million BTC, Bitcoin's quoted market capitalization would reach approximately $2.27 trillion, an increase of about $601 billion from the October 7 reference point. Historical volatility data from Glassnode showed one-year annualized realized volatility at 43.97% as of October 6, providing additional context for assessing the scale of the required move.
ETF Inflows and Market Data
Citi identified a historical association of roughly 4.7% Bitcoin returns for each $1 billion of ETF inflows, with flows explaining about 46% of price-action variance in the bank's analysis. Applying this relationship to the reported $5 billion inflow forecast suggests potential upside near $102,600, though this represents an arithmetic illustration using an older relationship rather than Citi's current model.
Recent market data from Glassnode showed combined Bitcoin spot-exchange and US spot ETF trading volume at approximately $6.8 billion daily on a seven-day average as of October 7, below the level recorded on nine in ten days since January 2024. For the thirty days through October 5, Glassnode estimated about $4.9 billion from ETF flows, stablecoin growth, and corporate treasury buying, while Bitcoin's realized capitalization rose about $12.8 billion over that period.
US spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded net inflows of $118.8 million on October 6, followed by net outflows of $484.9 million on October 7.
Broader Economic Context
The Federal Reserve's broad dollar index rose approximately 0.34% from September 30 to October 2. The ten-year Treasury yield increased seven basis points, from 5.24% on October 1 to 5.31% on October 5. Stablecoin capitalization stood at approximately $308 billion as of October 7, with roughly 1% growth over the preceding thirty days.
Sustained net ETF purchases accompanied by stronger spot trading activity would strengthen the case for the $113,000 target, while renewed fund redemptions would weaken evidence of sustained buying demand. Onchain analytics indicate new money entering the market, though thin trading volume leaves broader participation uncertain.
