CoinMarketCap has finalized its acquisition of Coinglass, a specialized cryptocurrency derivatives analytics platform. The transaction was announced on Friday with undisclosed deal terms.
Platform Integration and Capabilities
Coinglass monitors derivatives metrics including open interest, funding rates, liquidation events, and options activity across 28 major exchanges. The platform tracks more than 2,500 trading instruments and serves over 5 million monthly active users.
The service's popular features include liquidation heatmap visualizations and open interest tracking dashboards. More than 10,000 API clients integrate Coinglass data into their trading systems and analytical frameworks.
Operational Independence Preserved
Coinglass will maintain its existing brand identity, website, mobile application, and pricing structure following the acquisition. The platform's team will remain intact, and product development will continue serving the established user community.
Both services will currently function as distinct offerings under common ownership, with no announced plans to embed Coinglass analytics directly within CoinMarketCap's main price tracking pages.
Strategic Context
CoinMarketCap attracts approximately 115 million monthly visitors and serves as a leading cryptocurrency price reference platform. Binance acquired CoinMarketCap in April 2020 and has maintained the platform's operational independence since that transaction.
Derivatives contracts represent the majority of total trading volume in cryptocurrency markets, making data on market positioning and leverage exposure increasingly relevant to traders monitoring asset valuations.
