Ethereum Consolidates Below $2,500 as Analysts Monitor Key Technical Levels

Ethereum has experienced significant volatility over the past week, sliding below $2,500 to trade around $2,440 according to CoinGecko data. Despite the decline, market participants remain focused on technical levels that could signal the next directional move.

Analyst Ali Martinez highlighted that ETH remains contained within its 4-hour trading channel, with price action reaching the structure's lower boundary. He identified $2,570 as a key resistance level, noting that a strong 4-hour close above this point backed by trading volume could confirm a breakout toward $2,700 and higher levels.

Other analysts have offered bullish interpretations of current price action. BLADE identified a double-bottom formation on the chart, while Mikybull Crypto described Ethereum as looking "extremely bullish" in its current condition.

On-Chain Indicators Support Positive Outlook

Several on-chain metrics suggest reduced near-term selling pressure. Exchange-held ETH supplies dropped to a ten-year low of approximately 14.6 million coins, indicating that investors continue moving assets from centralized platforms to self-custody solutions.

Large holders have also been accumulating. BitMine announced an acquisition worth around $660 million, bringing its total holdings to 5,956,378 units. Separately, Lookonchain reported that a major market participant exchanged $38.64 million in WBTC and $26.73 million in cbBTC for 26,924 ETH worth $64.57 million.

Headwinds Emerge

Technical indicators present a mixed picture. Ethereum's Relative Strength Index reached 76, entering overbought territory, which historically precedes pullbacks.

Institutional capital flows also showed signs of weakness. Spot ETH ETFs experienced substantial outflows over the past two days after attracting significant inflows in preceding weeks, suggesting that institutional investors have reduced their exposure to the asset.
