Meta's Muse AI Agent Drives $200 Billion Market Cap Gain

Meta's AI agent Muse has become a focal point for investor interest in the company's artificial intelligence strategy. Since the app's launch, Meta's market value has increased by more than $200 billion, with analysts viewing Muse as a potential new revenue stream through subscription services.

How Muse Works

Muse launched on September 8 in the US and Canada for both iOS and Android. Unlike traditional chatbots, Muse functions as a digital assistant designed to complete multi-step tasks. Users can request actions such as drafting emails, listing items for sale, or handling transactions, with the agent managing the process without constant intervention.

Meta offers a free version of Muse alongside paid plans at $20 and $100 per month. Bank of America Global Research reported that users have responded positively to Muse's ability to handle complex workflows independently.

Early Adoption Metrics

Muse recorded 2.8 million downloads during its first 12 days, according to Apptopia data. For comparison, OpenAI's ChatGPT achieved 1.3 million downloads during a similar early period. JPMorgan stated that Muse could potentially become the most widely used consumer AI application since ChatGPT's launch.

Stock Market Impact

Meta's shares have risen more than 20% since Muse's launch, adding over $200 billion to the company's market value and reaching its highest closing level in more than seven months. The stock has outperformed other members of the "Magnificent Seven" megacap group during this period.

The AI enthusiasm has extended to semiconductor companies. An 11% jump in Meta's shares on one trading day coincided with gains in chip stocks, as investors anticipated increased demand for computing hardware to support AI agents. AMD crossed the $1 trillion valuation mark for the first time, while Intel also saw gains.

Revenue Potential and Valuation

Jefferies estimates that Muse could generate approximately $10.8 billion in annualized revenue if the service reaches one billion users by the end of 2027, with at least 3% subscribing to a paid plan. The firm raised its Meta price target to $875 based on this projection.

Meta's $200 billion market value increase substantially exceeds Jefferies' estimated annual revenue, suggesting investors are anticipating broader value creation. UBS Global Wealth Management characterized the launch as an early indicator that consumer AI agents could reach a significantly wider audience, potentially creating new monetization opportunities beyond the enterprise sector.

Wall Street coverage remains largely bullish, with 57 of 64 brokerages covering Meta rating the stock at "buy" or higher, with a median price target of $760.
