MEXC's stock and derivatives trading activity accelerated significantly in August, with futures volume across stocks, indices, and ETFs climbing 130% month-on-month, according to the platform's trading data released September 11.
Available contracts expanded 35% to over 400 listings, while tokenized stocks and ETF spot trading volume increased 30%. Nearly all existing tokenized asset listings recorded higher trading volumes during the month.
Memory and Semiconductor Stocks Lead
Stock futures trading activity broadened from a single dominant holding to multiple equities across U.S. and Korean markets. Five of the top 10 stock futures by volume tracked memory and storage companies.
SKHYNIX (SK hynix) ranked second overall and first among individual stock futures, with volume rising approximately 401% month-on-month. MU (Micron) placed third with volume up approximately 267%.
Combined trading volume for stock futures tracking Korean companies and markets—including SKHYNIX, SKHY, SAMSUNG, and KORU—rose approximately 348%. These Korean-linked assets increased their share of total stock futures volume from 14% in July to 27% in August.
Semiconductor ETF Futures Spike
Trading activity expanded into leveraged semiconductor ETF futures. SOXL futures, tracking a 3x daily long semiconductor ETF, ranked first overall with volume surging approximately 1,192%. Its share of total stock futures volume climbed from less than 4% in July to 20% in August.
SOXS futures, tracking a 3x inverse semiconductor ETF, recorded 436% volume growth. By contrast, S&P 500 index futures volume fell approximately 32%, reflecting a shift toward sector-specific exposure.
Broader Market Activity
Beyond semiconductors, TSLA (Tesla) stock futures recorded approximately 784% volume growth and ranked tenth, while SPCX (SpaceX) futures rose approximately 45%.
Tokenized stock spot trading volume increased 30% month-on-month. CRCL (Circle) ranked first with 69% volume growth. NBIS (Nebius), an AI cloud infrastructure company, ranked third with 188% growth. Approximately 99% of existing tokenized stock listings recorded higher volumes, with the top 10 accounting for just 12% of segment volume.
Weekend Trading Activity
Stock futures trading during August's 10 weekend days represented approximately 11% of monthly volume, indicating demand for access when underlying equity markets were closed.
