NBKR and CertiK Partner to Secure Kyrgyzstan’s Digital Som and Digital Asset Oversight

BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan — The National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic (NBKR) and security firm CertiK have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a long-term strategic partnership focused on Digital Som security and digital asset oversight.

The agreement was signed by Sanzhar Abdygaziev, a member of the NBKR Management Board, and Jason Jiang, Chief Business Officer of CertiK. The partnership creates a framework for cooperation within a central-bank environment designed to meet stringent security, compliance, and operational standards.

According to the announcement, the collaboration will cover blockchain and digital asset security, security assessments, formal verification, cybersecurity, and operational resilience. CertiK is set to provide technical and strategic support across these domains.

Additionally, the initiative extends to regulatory advisory support and digital asset oversight. Key areas of focus include anti-money laundering and countering the financing of terrorism (AML/CFT), digital asset custody, security standards, and licensing requirements. Both parties will also explore utilizing CertiK’s Supervision and Compliance solutions for risk monitoring, alongside conducting technical and regulatory training.

Ronghui Gu, Co-Founder and CEO of CertiK, noted that digital asset infrastructure demands risk management from design through operation, expressing support for the secure development of Kyrgyzstan's digital asset ecosystem.

The NBKR, the central bank of the Kyrgyz Republic, manages monetary policy, financial system stability, and the national payment infrastructure. The institution is currently advancing the Digital Som central bank digital currency (CBDC) initiative to modernize payments and foster financial inclusion. Meanwhile, CertiK operates globally as a Web3 security and risk management provider, having protected over $600 billion in digital assets since 2017.
