A rare Bitcoin bull market signal has emerged following one of the cryptocurrency's strongest weekly gains in recent years, prompting speculation that a new market cycle may be underway. Bitcoin recently surged from around $62,700 to $79,500 within a single week, delivering a gain of more than 20%.
According to historical analysis shared by market analyst Ali Martinez, this move mirrors powerful reversal candles seen at major turning points in previous cycles, including 2019 and 2023. The recent rally closely resembles Bitcoin's 2019 recovery, which featured a 31.98% weekly gain following an extended bear market. A comparable pattern also appeared in January 2023 after the collapse of FTX, when Bitcoin advanced 24.90% in a single week to trigger a trend reversal.
Market observers note that large weekly reversal candles frequently emerge during short squeezes, as rising prices force bearish traders to close their positions and add momentum to the rally. This recent surge surprised many investors who expected a deeper correction.
Additional technical evidence comes from a two-week MACD chart shared by crypto analyst Moustache. The indicator is nearing a bullish crossover, a momentum shift that previously occurred near major Bitcoin bottoms in 2015, 2018, and 2022 ahead of substantial upward moves.
At the time of reporting, Bitcoin was trading at $77,247, maintaining a 22% weekly gain despite a 0.1% decline over 24 hours. The cryptocurrency is trading above its 50-day simple moving average of $64,616 and its 200-day simple moving average of $69,010. However, the 14-day relative strength index stands at 85.99, placing Bitcoin in overbought territory and suggesting the potential for consolidation or a short-term pullback.
