Bitcoin Faces Crucial Resistance Levels Despite Recent Price Surge

Bitcoin recently climbed above $80,000, registering a 15% increase on a weekly scale and pushing its market capitalization past $1.6 trillion. At the time of writing, the primary cryptocurrency trades at approximately $79,600, according to CoinGecko data.

Despite this positive performance and prevailing market optimism, several industry participants and analysts have issued notes of caution regarding potential downside risks if key resistance zones are not cleared.

Analyst Warnings and Bearish Scenarios

Analyst Gerla noted on X that Bitcoin's price must make a clean break above $82,000 to change its bearish structure, warning of a potential deeper move below the $58,000 to $60,000 zone. Another X user, cyclop, stated that failing to hold above $83,000 would signal a continuing bear trend and projected a potential drop toward $50,000.

Additional bearish predictions include AlejandroBTC, who argued that BTC faces a major downturn that could reduce its valuation to $40,000. Meanwhile, analyst Nonzee attributed the recent surge to a liquidity squeeze and envisioned an eventual decline to $45,000.

Bullish Indicators and On-Chain Metrics

Conversely, analytics firm CryptoQuant reported that eight of its ten market indicators, including its bull score, have entered bullish territory. This suggests current conditions could represent the early phase of a major rally, though the firm noted that a daily close above the 365-day moving average of approximately $83,000 is needed for confirmation.

Other market observers have taken a more optimistic stance. X user Gordon declared that the bear market is over, while on-chain data shows that investors continue to abandon centralized exchanges in favor of self-custody methods, thereby reducing immediate selling pressure despite the recent price increases.
