Sazmining, a Wyoming-based mining-as-a-service provider, began selling Proto immersion hashboards to retail buyers on October 16, 2026. The move represents an attempt to make Bitcoin mining accessible to individuals again, though the economics require substantial patience.
Each Proto hashboard delivers approximately 204 TH/s at an efficiency of 15 J/TH, resulting in a power draw of about 3,060 watts per board. The hardware uses immersion cooling, with components submerged in non-conductive liquid rather than cooled by traditional fans.
Pricing and Payment Options
Proto boards are priced at $4,187 per unit, or $3,978 for customers paying in cryptocurrency. Sazmining also offers financing with a $1,397 down payment followed by 18 monthly payments of $155 at 0% interest.
Operating Costs and Economics
Beyond the hardware purchase, Sazmining charges a 15% management fee on Bitcoin produced by each board. Electricity costs are passed through to customers at approximately $0.063/kWh.
Under current assumptions, a single board could take more than six years to recoup its initial investment. The next Bitcoin halving, expected roughly 76,000 blocks away, is anticipated to extend this timeline further.
At current network conditions, one Proto board represents approximately one five-millionth of Bitcoin's total hashrate. As of October 30, 2026, the network hashrate stood at around 1,076 EH/s with mining difficulty at 148.36T.
Market Context
Some large mining operators have recently redirected resources toward artificial intelligence workloads, as their data centers and infrastructure serve both mining and AI applications. This shift has created an opportunity for retail-focused alternatives like Sazmining's offering.
The core appeal of the model is access to industrial-grade hardware without the operational burden of managing heat, noise, or installation at home. However, mining revenue fluctuates with Bitcoin price movements and network difficulty changes, while customers remain committed to fixed monthly payments over 18 months.
